Description

Harry James Potter is the wizard who defeated Lord Voldemort, ending both Wizarding Wars. Known throughout the wizarding world as “The Boy Who Lived” and “The Chosen One,” he is among the most famous wizards in modern history. He currently serves as an Auror at the Ministry of Magic and is on track to become the youngest Head of the Auror Office in history.

Background

Born July 31, 1980 to James Potter and Lily Potter, Harry was orphaned at the age of one when Voldemort murdered both his parents at Godric’s Hollow on October 31, 1981. He survived Voldemort’s Killing Curse that night due to his mother’s sacrificial protection, an ancient magic that Voldemort neither understood nor respected. The failed curse left Harry with a lightning-bolt scar on his forehead and inadvertently made him Voldemort’s seventh Horcrux.

Raised by his Muggle relatives, Harry entered the wizarding world at age eleven when he was sorted into Gryffindor House at Hogwarts.

History

Throughout his years at Hogwarts, Harry repeatedly confronted Voldemort and his followers. He was a member of the Order of the Phoenix and played the central role in the hunt for and destruction of multiple Horcruxes.

At the Battle of Hogwarts in 1998, Harry willingly sacrificed himself to destroy the Horcrux within him, survived Voldemort’s Killing Curse a second time, and ultimately defeated the Dark Lord in their final confrontation. Voldemort’s own rebounding curse destroyed him.

Following the war, Harry did not return to Hogwarts for his seventh year. Instead, he joined the Auror Office at the Ministry of Magic, the career he had always dreamed of. He married Ginny Weasley and they have begun raising a family. Their eldest son, James Sirius Potter, was born around 2004.

He also returns to Hogwarts periodically to give guest lectures on Defence Against the Dark Arts, much as he did when he led Dumbledore’s Army as a student.

Harry was featured on a Chocolate Frog card for his achievements, joining the ranks of the most famous and celebrated witches and wizards in history, including Albus Dumbledore and Merlin.
