Description
Narcissa Malfoy is a pure-blood witch from the noble House of Black, wife of Lucius Malfoy, and mother of Draco Malfoy. She is poised, proud, and cunning — a woman whose loyalty to her family ultimately outweighed her loyalty to Voldemort.
Background
Born Narcissa Black, she is the sister of Bellatrix Lestrange and Andromeda Tonks (the latter disowned by the family for marrying a Muggle-born). Narcissa married into the Malfoy family, one of the wealthiest pure-blood families in the wizarding world, and raised her son Draco in a life of privilege and pure-blood ideology. While she was never a Death Eater herself, she moved in Death Eater circles through her husband and sister and shared many of their prejudices regarding blood purity.
History
Narcissa’s defining moment came during the Battle of Hogwarts. When Voldemort sent her to check whether Harry Potter was dead after being struck by the Killing Curse in the Forbidden Forest, Narcissa lied — she told Voldemort that Harry was dead when he was very much alive. She did this not out of any allegiance to the Order of the Phoenix or opposition to Voldemort, but simply because Harry quietly confirmed that her son Draco was still alive inside the castle. Her only concern was getting into Hogwarts to find him.
This act of deception proved pivotal in Voldemort’s defeat and likely saved the Malfoy family from the harshest punishments. Narcissa, Lucius, and Draco all avoided Azkaban in the war’s aftermath. When Draco married Astoria Greengrass, a pure-blood witch, Narcissa was initially pleased. However, she was quickly disappointed to discover that Astoria’s views on blood purity did not align with Malfoy family traditions — Astoria raised their son Scorpius to treat Muggles and Muggle-borns with respect, a source of quiet tension within the family.
