Description
The Death Eaters were Lord Voldemort’s followers, a terrorist organization of dark wizards and witches who sought to purge the wizarding world of Muggle-borns and establish pure-blood supremacy. Marked by the Dark Mark—a skull with a serpent protruding from its mouth—Death Eaters committed countless atrocities during both Wizarding Wars. While officially disbanded after Voldemort’s final defeat, remnant cells continue to operate in secret.
History
Formed in the 1960s-70s as Voldemort rose to power, the Death Eaters terrorized magical Britain through murder, torture, and intimidation. After Voldemort’s initial defeat in 1981, some Death Eaters claimed they had been under the Imperius Curse, while others were imprisoned in Azkaban. The group reformed in the mid-1990s following Voldemort’s return, leading to the Second Wizarding War and the Battle of Hogwarts.
