Description
Walden McNair was a Death Eater who served as the Ministry of Magic’s executioner for the Committee for the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures. A violent man even by Death Eater standards, McNair used his Ministry position as cover while secretly serving Voldemort.
History
McNair was assigned to execute Buckbeak the Hippogriff in 1994, though the creature was rescued by Harry Potter and Hermione Granger. When Voldemort returned, McNair was sent as an envoy to the giants to recruit them to Voldemort’s cause. He fought in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries and later the Battle of Hogwarts, where he was thrown across a room by Rubeus Hagrid.
Current Status
Sentenced to life imprisonment in Azkaban following the Battle of Hogwarts.
