Description

Bellatrix Lestrange was one of Voldemort’s most fanatical and dangerous Death Eaters. A pure-blood witch of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black, she was notorious for her sadistic cruelty, unstable temperament, and obsessive devotion to the Dark Lord.

Background

Personally mentored by Voldemort in the dark arts, Bellatrix developed an infatuation with her master that went beyond loyalty into something bordering on worship. She was among his most skilled lieutenants, feared even by other Death Eaters for her volatility and power.

She married Rodolphus Lestrange, though the union was one of pure-blood obligation rather than affection. Her true devotion belonged entirely to Voldemort.

History

After Voldemort’s first downfall in 1981, Bellatrix refused to accept that he was gone. Along with her husband, brother-in-law, and Barty Crouch Jr., she tortured Frank and Alice Longbottom into permanent insanity using the Cruciatus Curse, seeking information on Voldemort’s whereabouts. She was captured and imprisoned in Azkaban for this crime.

Bellatrix escaped during the mass breakout of 1996 and immediately returned to Voldemort’s service. At the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, she killed her own cousin, Sirius Black, blasting him through the Veil of Death.

She was killed by Molly Weasley at the Battle of Hogwarts in 1998 after nearly striking down Ginny Weasley.

Bellatrix is deceased. However, her legacy of fanaticism endures. In the post-war era, a group calling itself Bellatrix’s Children operates in her name, continuing to spread dark ideology.
