Description
Augustus Rookwood was a Death Eater who worked as a spy within the Department of Mysteries at the Ministry of Magic. An Unspeakable by profession, Rookwood used his position to feed intelligence to Voldemort during the First Wizarding War, running a network of informants through the Ministry. He was exposed by Igor Karkaroff and imprisoned in Azkaban, but escaped during the mass breakout in 1996.
History
Rookwood was one of Voldemort’s most valuable agents due to his access to the Ministry’s most closely guarded secrets. After his escape from Azkaban, he rejoined the Death Eaters and fought in the Battle of Hogwarts, where he killed Fred Weasley in an explosion during the fighting.
Current Status
Sentenced to life imprisonment in Azkaban following the Battle of Hogwarts.
