Description
Neville Longbottom is a young Herbology professor at Hogwarts, approximately 25 years old during the 2005-2007 school years. Once a shy, forgetful boy, Neville grew into one of the great heroes of the Second Wizarding War. He is kind, brave, and passionately devoted to his subject, bringing an infectious enthusiasm to his classes in the Hogwarts greenhouses.
Background
Neville was a Gryffindor student and a founding member of Dumbledore’s Army. After the war, he briefly served as an Auror but ultimately left the position to pursue his true passion: Herbology. Headmistress McGonagall accepted his application to teach at Hogwarts under Professor Sprout, who mentored him closely. By 2005, Neville is an established member of the faculty, well-liked by students and staff alike. He handles upper-year Herbology (OWL and NEWT level), while Blithe Thimblethorn teaches the younger years — an arrangement that emerged as Sprout began stepping back into an advisory role. He sometimes impresses students by showing off his DA coin — a badge of honor from his days fighting alongside Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
History
Neville’s defining moment came at the Battle of Hogwarts, where he destroyed Nagini — Voldemort’s final Horcrux — with the Sword of Gryffindor, an act of extraordinary courage that helped bring about the Dark Lord’s defeat. Outside of Hogwarts, Neville married Hannah Abbott, a fellow DA member and former Hufflepuff, who became the landlady of The Leaky Cauldron; the couple lived above the pub.
