Description
The Leaky Cauldron is a wizarding pub situated at No. 1, Diagon Alley, on Charing Cross Road in London. It serves as the primary gateway between the non-wizarding (Muggle) world and Diagon Alley. The establishment features a bar, several private parlor rooms, and a spacious dining area.
To Muggles, the pub appears as nothing more than a dilapidated old shopfront, easily overlooked and quickly forgotten. This enchantment was placed after the enactment of the Statute of Secrecy. Before that legislation, Muggle visitors were not turned away and were welcomed freely.
History
The Leaky Cauldron was established by Daisy Dodderidge in the early 1500s, with the express purpose of serving as a crossing point between Muggle London and the growing wizarding enclave that would become Diagon Alley. For centuries it has remained the most common point of entry into the Alley, and many a young witch or wizard has taken their first steps into the magical world through its unassuming front door.
