Description

James Potter was a pure-blood wizard, father of Harry Potter, and husband of Lily Potter. He was known for his bravery, loyalty, and occasionally reckless confidence. A talented wizard and natural leader, he gave his life defending his family from Voldemort.

Background

A Gryffindor House student at Hogwarts, James was close friends with Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. Together they called themselves the Marauders. James was a gifted student and a skilled Quidditch player who served as Chaser for Gryffindor.

The Marauders became unregistered Animagi to support Remus Lupin during his werewolf transformations. James’s Animagus form was a stag, earning him the nickname “Prongs.” They also created the Marauder’s Map, a magical document showing every person and passage within Hogwarts.

History

After graduating from Hogwarts, James and Lily joined the Order of the Phoenix to fight against Voldemort. They defied the Dark Lord three times, fulfilling part of The Prophecy that marked their son as Voldemort’s equal.

When the Potters went into hiding under the Fidelius Charm, they chose Peter Pettigrew as their Secret-Keeper. Pettigrew betrayed them to Voldemort.

On October 31, 1981, Voldemort arrived at Godric’s Hollow. James attempted to hold him off, buying time for Lily and Harry to escape. He was murdered by the Killing Curse. He was unarmed at the time, having left his wand in another room.

James is deceased.
