Description
Declan “Deck” MacMillan is a sturdy, broad-shouldered young man with messy dark hair and an infectious grin that never seems to fade. He carries himself with the easy confidence of someone who rushes headfirst into situations and somehow lands on his feet.
Personality
Declan is loud, friendly, and can’t resist a challenge—even if it’s obviously a trap, rushing in with a grin and a half-formed plan. He’s brave to the point of stupidity but often gets by on pure charisma and dumb luck.
Background
As a Muggle-born, Declan is deeply aware of class and house dynamics and sympathizes with anti-elitist sentiment at Hogwarts. He’s surprisingly good at Charms and athletic magic like broom-riding and magical grappling, making him a natural ally—or potential rival if tensions rise.
Story
Declan fought alongside Caoimhe Keelan, Finlay Figgins, Otto Noxley, and Isolde Kettleburn during the invisible snake chaos in Bixby Wizzlethorpe’s Potions class. His quick action helped contain the situation and earned Gryffindor 100 house points.
He later teamed with Callum Vane and Elias Flint for Wizzlethorpe’s Research Challenge, winning first place and the Dust of Disappearance. The party overheard Declan’s group whispering about using the dust and still needing Polyjuice Potion—plotting something of their own.
When the party emerged victorious from The Deepwater Convergence, Declan stopped Elias from attacking them—showing there are lines even rivals won’t cross. What Declan’s group was planning remains unclear, but his willingness to restrain Elias suggests he may not share the Slytherin’s darker impulses.
