Description
Little Hangleton is a small English village, unremarkable to the outside world but of profound significance in the history of Lord Voldemort. It is the ancestral home of the Riddle family—Voldemort’s Muggle paternal line—and the nearby Gaunt shack was home to his maternal wizarding family, the Gaunts.
History
Tom Riddle Sr., a wealthy Muggle, lived in the grand Riddle House overlooking the village. The Gaunt family, descendants of Salazar Slytherin, lived in squalor on the outskirts, their once-great line reduced to poverty and isolation.
In August 1943, Tom Riddle—having recently learned the truth of his parentage—traveled to Little Hangleton and murdered his father, Tom Riddle Sr. He used this act of patricide to create his second Horcrux: Gaunt’s Ring, fashioned from Marvolo Gaunt’s ring, which itself contained the Resurrection Stone, though Riddle was unaware of its true nature at the time.
Little Hangleton would remain a thread connecting Voldemort to his mortal origins, a place he despised yet could never fully escape.
